Website accessibility review checklist A quick manual pass to catch common barriers before a page goes live or changes.
Not an accessibility audit or compliance determination. Automated or self-checks cannot verify real user experience. Standards and legal obligations vary. Test with assistive technology and disabled users where appropriate, and seek qualified review.
0 of 12 reviewed Use this as a prompt for manual checks; unchecked is not proof of a failure.
Structure and text Page has a descriptive title, one clear primary heading, and a logical heading order. Link text makes sense out of context; links and buttons have distinct purposes. Images conveying information have appropriate text alternatives; decorative images are ignored by assistive tech.Keyboard and interaction All controls work using keyboard only; tab order is meaningful, with no keyboard traps. Focus is clearly visible, not obscured, and moves sensibly after dialogs or errors. Controls have programmatic labels; custom widgets communicate name, role, value, and state.Readability and visual presentation Text resizes and layout reflows at zoom without lost content or horizontal scrolling for ordinary reading. Text contrast and important non-text contrast have been checked with suitable tools. Meaning is not conveyed through color alone; motion can be reduced or stopped.Forms and changing content Errors identify the affected field, explain the issue, and suggest a correction in text. Dynamic updates are announced appropriately without unexpected focus changes. Instructions and time limits are clear; users can review, correct, or extend where appropriate.Reset all checks Checklist state exists only in this page and disappears on refresh. No scanning, tracking, storage, or transmission. Progress counts items you marked as reviewed—not items that passed. Confirm findings across browsers, devices, zoom, keyboard, and relevant assistive technologies.
